This Weekend We- Sena's Brooklyn Birthday

This weekend we celebrated Sena's ninth birthday eating our way around New York. The weather was perfect and the apartment we stayed in was beautiful. My girl soaked it all in, never uttering a complaint.  She was her very best self every minute of the trip.

It was a nearly perfect weekend spent with my mom, my daughter, and my best friend with cameo appearances from Geoffrey, who in addition to being an amazingly generous host, is also a damn fine bar tender and egg scrambler.

Of all the pictures I took, my favorite image is one I never captured, an image repeated over and over again-- Sena Rose with her plastic glasses sliding down her nearly nonexistent nose, disposal camera smashed up against her face as she takes pictures of every single plate of food she is served. Every plate. Even the bread.

I love that girl, and I love that she wanted to go to Brooklyn for her birthday, and I love that she smiled for forty-eight hours straight. But I think what I love the most is that she ordered the goat for her dinner.

Seriously, she's awesome.

  1. Looks like a fun weekend - your daughter is adorable. I can tell from the applewood sign that you stayed in Park Slope? My good friend Amy lives a few blocks (one block?) from there, on 11th. I hope to get there in the Spring! Much nicer there than in Maine :)

    1. Thanks, Kira. I certainly think so, but there's a whole lot of bias at play.
