A Mother For So Long

Sena turned eight on Friday, and I just couldn't stop obsessing over what that meant about me, how it meant that I have been a mother for eight years. Eight years.
We celebrated her birthday with manicures and fish tails braids, with breakfast for dinner followed by the perfect little cupcakes. Kids ran up in down stairs in costumes and then in their pajamas, and as the night grew late, it was the kids who told the grown ups to be quiet,  that they needed to get to sleep.

As I looked around at Sena's tribe, the people who love her the most, I could not believe how lucky we are. That little girl is loved by so many, and she is loved  so deeply. And watching the people who I love, love my child, my children, just makes me love them even more. There is no way to deny that children just multiply the amount of love that this world can feel, that they bring joy and beauty and happiness.

    1. Thanks Ronnie. To think that such a huge part of my life has been inspired/ influenced by/ devoted to motherhood is sort of crazy. I think, though, that I might just be happier than I ever have been before- these little people are the best.
