Learning about early civilization.
Hunter gathers, cave drawings, nomads becoming farmers.
These moments, when my newly minted "big kids" yell out the answers to my questions and they remember exactly what we are learning about when we're sitting down to a big family dinner, they are what make it so hard for me to go back to my real job, the one with high school kids who usually like me but who usually don't like what we're learning. They make it hard to go back to leaving the house when it's dark and relying on my mama to make our school at home work. They make it hard to struggle through standardized tests and essays written by indifferent teens.
Oh, boy, oh, boy, they make it so hard.

By the way, we're using this program, and we love it so far.
School sure is even more fun when it leaves the dining room table.

That's amazing! I'm glad more and more people are homeschooling with a twist these days. My mom did similar things with me as a child.

I really like homeschooling because it gives me an extra chance to foster creativity in my kids, which from the looks of your blog your mama must have done.
